Much of the world today functions on a very practical moral level: If it doesn't really hurt anyone else, it's OK. Some people make fun of those who don't "take advantage" of opportunities to cut the line, grab a little extra, cheat just a bit, etc... Some people engage in more intensely bad behaviors, but since they can get away with it, why not?
Well Judaism obviously disapproves, because these people are, in truth, throwing their lives away. How?
