As a kid, I used to live for the Saturday morning cartoons. They were a highlight of my week. Then, there was always the Yankees game in the afternoon. Yes, Saturdays were fun. No school, lots of television, lots of playing.
Then I got religion, and I gave up all the television and stuff. I exchanged it for synagogue. Was I crazy? Yes, and I still am! Why would anyone choose a full 25 hours of no TV, no car, no nightclub, no sporting event? Is this really what Judaism thinks? Why is it the most precious gift that I feel I have ever received?
